Bills Edwards wants to make fresh start

Quarterback Trent Edwards with bills jersey arrived for the start of the team spring voluntary workout program eager to show he has the ability to play the season.

If that means having to compete to reclaim the starting job, that was fine with Edwards on Tuesday. Addressing reporters for the first time since November, shortly after losing his starting job to Ryan Fitzpatrick, Edwards acknowledged his critics and accepted a share of the blame for the offense’s struggles, which contributed to the Bills’ 6-10 finish.

Edwards alluded to confusion as being a problem.

Jets’ Edwards signs tender

Wide receiver Braylon Edwards with jets jersey signed his tendor and reported for the first day of voluntary offseason workouts Monday.

His tendor worth $6.2 million-which would have required another team to give up first and third round draft picks to New York. Running back Leon Washington(notes) chose to not attend the workout, and is one of New York’s four restricted free agents who haven’t signed their tenders. Washington, a fourth-round pick in 2006, received a second-round tender. Agent Alvin Keels said on Twitter that Washington, a Pro Bowl kick returner in 2008 who’s recovering from a broken right leg suffered last season, will weigh his options while rehabilitating.

Wide receiver Brad Smith (second round) and safety James Ihedigbo(right of first refusal) signed their tenders.
